TO THE LIMITS OF THE SOUL'S IDEAL:

VISITORS' PICTURES OF CHAMBERLAIN-RELATED SITES IN BREWER, MAINE

Here are some very nice photos of Chamberlain's birthplace, and the "Chamberlain Freedom Park" in Brewer, ME.

Do you have Chamberlain-related photos from Brewer you'd like to share online?

Email them in a small JPG format.

And do not copy any of the photos, without contacting the photographers first. Thanks!

These NEW pictures are by Mindy Eckler:

Here's a nice front-view of Chamberlain's birthplace.

(Left Photo) A close-up look at the front porch of Chamberlain's birthplace.

(Right Photo) On the boulder in front of the house is an historical marker, which states that Joshua L. Chamberlain was born in this house, on September 8, 1828.

A view from the right side of the house.

Another view of the right-hand side.

A nice view of the back of the house.

Here's the old carriage-house, at the back of the property.

A Chamberlain birthplace house update:

In the summer of 2006, this house was finally sold, after having been on the real estate market for nearly a year. It is now in private hands, and is being restored on the inside.

A Further Update:

Thanks to the kind permission of the house's new owner, Mr. Daniel Moellentin, you can now see photos of both the interior and exterior on my site. Here is the page:

A quote, from Chamberlain's "Maine Monuments at Gettysburg" speech--and probably the one most quoted. One of the organizations that donated money for the park's creation is listed beneath the quote.
